This was a great track. I try to avoid "mean girl" writing- either reading it, or writing it. Definitely a work in progress...

Right? IMO, Brotherhood is really underrated, and that song is my favorite on the record.

What am I listening to? Good night, nurse...I'm listening to your Playlist....I have only even HEARD OF #s 1-3 and #5, and have spent the last several minutes listening to the lower-half of your 'List, not only artists about whom I've never heard, but have certainly never heard the songs! WHERE DO YOU HEAR OF ALL THESE ARTISTS?!?! Color me stunned (and impressed)!

In perusing bios, I'm picking up labels (as I think you know, I think in terms of labels...nothing gives me more of a sense of perspective and prominence (especially for artists about whom I know little to nothing) than to get a whiff of which label recorded them (if any)! At least two (Built to Spill and Belly) had brushes with the Label of the Bunny (WB), with BTS's Doug Martsch managing to impressively wrest creative control for their 3-album deal.

Very cool list, Kevin....I thought I had my day all planned out with research and writing for MY 'Stack efforts! Looks like I'll be hopelessly wrapped up in satisfying my OCD-Lite with trundling thru your Playlist for new tunes (for me, anyway) and info about these artists! Curse you, Red Baron (but in the best way possible)!😁🎼🎶🎵👍💿👏

Television, sadly!

Here's a little Tom tribute playlist I pulled together for my own posting; avoiding the obvious (yet brilliant) Marquee Moon, Venus, etc.

- my favourite song from the band's second album

- the song he co-wrote and played guitar on for 'Horses'

- a bit of solo Verlaine, and

- a lovely little tribute song from Alvvays.

Excellent. I just posted a review of "In Color" from the archives. Might have to do one for Dream Police as well.

Funny, I was just thinking of Homosapien this morning - great song! This weekend I was listening to a lot of hip hop as I'm working on my Best Of 2022 in that area. Almost forgot about Isaiah Rashad's Music 4r Da Vibers leaked playlist - so good and def on my list. So is They Hate Change's Finally, New, a fresh take on hip hop. Also listened to and wrote about Freddie Gibbs' latest and the two songs Pinkcaravan! released last year - I love her stuff and there's so little of it. I also played my 45 of Little Johnny Jewel in tribute to Tom Verlaine. The music on it so good, the singing so bad. That's why I sold my copy of Marquee Moon...but I'm holding on to this single!

Every so often, Homosapien pops in my head, hangs out for a few days, and then disappears just as quickly. Definitely a great track!

Freddie Gibbs might be a new one for me; I'll cue some of her stuff up shortly.

Freddie's latest is good but did not make my top 25, as did Bandana (with Madlib) in 2019 and Alfredo (with The Alchemist) in 2020. I must have watched his Tiny Desk with Madlib a dozen times! https://youtu.be/1alXHOMDBN4

I am still digesting my Glen Phillips solo show on Friday. Jonathan Kingham opened and did a cover of “Every Little Step I Take” by Bobby Brown...with a freestyle interlude in the middle?!

Here he is in Philly a few nights before. Skip ahead to 3:15 for the awesomeness.

I discovered a new artist/band called Rosemary & Garlic with a song called “Old Now” on an album called The Kingfisher. I mean, the intersection of aging, gardening, and birding is kind of on the nose for me. 😂

As much as I'd like to deny it, I'm at that same intersection. One of the highlights of Memorial Day weekend is plotting our vegetable garden, and my wife has turned our backyard into a Golden Corral for birds. Couldn't tell you what a single one of them are (except for the cardinals), but they're fun to watch.

The Nerk Twins, The Mop Tops, The Weeklings (hm, seems to be a Mersey theme here).

3 new ones for me! Which of the 3 should I start with?

All three do a Beatles-inspired thing, with The Weaklings sometimes the most Mersey while the other two more vibe the Beatles feel, accent on the early to mid-period Beatles sound.

Currently, I'm literally obsessed with "Help! I'm Lost..." EP by Future Chess Club. I think that's because I'm in need of sunshine and positive energy to fight the greyness outside my window
