It’s been a while since I’ve done an old-fashioned link drop, but there’s been some great stuff written in/about the music world recently, and I’d hate to see them go stale.
Guided By Voices is a band well worth anyone’s time, but finding an on-ramp can be tough. Here’s a great primer to get you started.
Similarly, The New Pornographers have a long discography. If you’re unsure where to begin, start with their latest release, Continue As Guest. It’s an early candidate for my AOTY. Savvy readers might note that their Bandcamp page says they’re from Vancouver, Washington. They’re actually from Vancouver, BC. The former is a great place to be from, but not live. Maybe that’s my Portland bias showing.
