For The Record- 01. March. 2025
'Cause you, you and I-I-I back together. Got the world in a spin
It's not quite spring.
We're in that interstitial space where you roll the car windows down but leave seat warmers on. My kid can still snowboard, and I can go without a coat at work.
Mostly, it's a lot of slush and people complaining about being unable to ice skate. It also means the countdown to the Brewers breaking my heart has begun (as of this writing, they're not doing the best job of proving me wrong).
But hope--and spring-- still spring eternal.
These temps are aberration...a tease. An intermission in the month that always takes 4 years.
At this point, I'm old enough to know that all things come in time but young enough to demand that time be right now.
All things in time and at the right time.
So the countdown is on (19 DAYS TO GO!) for spring, where we can (maybe, hopefully) roll the windows down and leave the coat at home semi-regularly. Ideally, not too long after that, I can again invoke the dorkiest of traditions: playing Biz Markie's “Spring Again.”
As noted, I'm old enough to know all good things happen in time and at the right time. It might take you a while to figure that out, but it's a surefire formula; it's just the way the universe works. I don't make the rules.
At any rate, this record found me at just the right time. People contain multitudes, but in 1988-89, you only needed five letters to sum me up: s-u-r-l-y.
