As some of you read last week, I recently saw Matty C. kick off his tour here in Madison. In between sets, Matty sat down and laughingly asked, "Are you taking notes?"
I was.
I don't usually do concert reviews- partly because I had a years-long streak of not going to any, but also because I sometimes feel like I'm not doing the experience justice. It's easy to say something like "xxx was rad!" or list off what tracks they played and which ones I wished they'd played, but after that? It takes moxie to get up in front of strangers and share your art with the world. It's doubly challenging to do that in 2024--the days of putting out a record and watching the money roll in are largely gone. You gotta be on the socials. You gotta have merch. You gotta get in the van Buick.
