For The Record- 25. November. 2023
My cat says 'eeeee-ack'
Welcome to another edition of For The Record, a good old-fashioned link drop and benefit for paid supporters of On Repeat. If you’re ready to become one, we’d be thrilled to have you!
As a reminder, On Repeat is 100% reader-funded. And as always, there are 7-day trials for anyone looking to test the waters.
This week, we’ve got news on Hall & Oates, Phoebe Bridgers, and an iconic hip-hop track at 30.
All that and a LOT more (including new releases, tour dates, book recommendations, and a whole bunch of stuff you can go for).
Let’s get to it!
‘Tis the season for gratitude and reverie, and you don’t have to wander too far into the interwebs to find lists of what people will tell you they’re grateful for. At the risk of being too clever by half, I want to share a little of what I’m thankful for not having this year.
I decided my content diet needed an overhaul a couple of years ago. Like most terminally online people, my screen time had devolved into the equivalent of an all-junk food diet. Lots of empty calories and mainlining cheap dopamine hits. Too much time spent arguing with people who were more interested in attention than they were in perspective. Too much energy spent on trolls, and too much oxygen given to influencers and corporate accounts. Does a company like Pepsi really give AF about what I have to say? Do we need to hear their (performative) stance on the issues of the day? I doubt it, but they were living in my head rent-free, and so were many other people with no business being there.
And we haven’t even made it to the hustlebro part of the list.
