This week has been an interesting year.
Of course, the American political system experienced a few shocks, overshadowing another event over the weekend—the failed Crowdstrike update and the ensuing chaos.
Many people can explain what happened here much better than I can (including more than a few of you right here!). Instead, I want to talk about the aftershock and second-order effects that affected one company in particular and thousands of its customers. Namely, the airline I work for.
When you are sold the dream of homeownership, they only sell you on the good parts: equity, generational wealth, and a place for your things. They skip over parts like shoveling your driveway and replacing your furnace and A/C in one fell swoop.
That's a wordy intro to say that last Friday was a really bad day to pick up an extra shift at work. This was also the day I learned that hashbrowns are apparently the MAGA of food, but I’ll get to that.
