For The Record- 30. September. 2023
We sat and smoked against the wall. Drank a beer, felt the chill of fall.
Welcome to another edition of For The Record, a good old-fashioned link drop and benefit for paid supporters of On Repeat. If you’re ready to become one, we’d be thrilled to have you!
As a reminder, On Repeat is 100% reader-funded. And as always, there are 7-day trials for anyone looking to test the waters.
This week, we’ve got news on Taylor Swift, Paramore, The Replacements, and…Cher?
All of that and a LOT more (like, a lot lot).
Let’s get right into it!
Music fans can be a fractious, pedantic bunch. We like to argue over everything, and when we can’t find something to disagree on, we’ll make one up. But strip that white noise away, and there is massive common ground.
Distilled down, we love experiencing music, most of us love going to shows, and in the end, the rest doesn’t much matter.
So, it’s been heartening this past week to see us all come together on the same side of the fence on a few things.
First, Ed Stasium’s remix of The Replacements’ Tim album has been met with near-universal praise. Sure, there’ve been minor quibbles here and there—the bass might be too upfront, or the new version of “Little Mascara” went too far (old habits die hard!), but almost without exception, everyone agrees that this needed to be done and that we’re all better off for it having happened.
