Music fans can be a fractious, pedantic bunch. We like to argue over everything, and when we can’t find something to disagree on, we’ll make one up. But strip that white noise away, and there is massive common ground.

Distilled down, we love experiencing music, most of us love going to shows, and in the end, the rest doesn’t much matter.

So, it’s been heartening this past week to see us all come together on the same side of the fence on a few things.

First, Ed Stasium’s remix of The Replacements’ Tim album has been met with near-universal praise. Sure, there’ve been minor quibbles here and there—the bass might be too upfront, or the new version of “Little Mascara” went too far (old habits die hard!), but almost without exception, everyone agrees that this needed to be done and that we’re all better off for it having happened.
