For The Record
All the news fit to print, and some that isn't.
Welcome to another edition of For The Record, a semi-regular good ol’ fashioned link drop. The music world is many things, but “boring” is never one of them.
The list of this year’s inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is out. In are Kate Bush, The Spinners, and Willie Nelson, among others. Link Wray and Chaka Khan are set to receive awards as well.
Notably left on the outside looking in are New Order/Joy Division, Iron Maiden, and Warren Zevon.
Look, it’s no secret that I’m a total New Order fanboy, but hear me out here; most bands only get one shot to make their mark. New Order is the band that changed the world twice. There’s also something to be said for any group that launches 1000 bands and a million T-shirts. Same story with Iron Maiden—and I don’t see any other frontman on this list flying the tour plane to each of their dates.
As for Zevon? I have to think that wherever he is, that he’s shaking his head and chuckling over the absurdity of everything.
