Hey there! Today we’re spinning “Inside Love” by George Benson. Off his 1983 In Your Eyes record, the song was written by R & B pioneer Kashif, and his signature sound is all over this record. The pair may have come from different musical worlds, but their coming together makes for a fantastic record.
Benson was still recording and playing as late as 2019:
As an all-time icon and Grammy-winning giant of jazz, we have grown used to seeing George Benson on the stages that befit his sky-high status. So it’s a rare treat – and a whole different thrill – to find this megastar going nose-to-nose with the breathless 250-capacity crowd at London’s most prestigious bolthole. “I like that kind of intimacy,” says Benson. “I can feel the love when it’s up close and personal.”

Note: The YT video is not the highest quality (it is from 1985, after all), But the performance makes wading through that worth it.
What do you think about this record? When/where’d you first hear it? As always, I’d love to find out!
