Fantastic! I love what he says about refusing to pay more than $10 for a used record. I wish I could apply that rule to myself but more often than not the stuff I'm after and/or the places I shop at will command a premium (rarity/location). I also loved what he said about "calling" an album and sort of like summoning it and then seeing it pop up in the dollar bin. I once had that with a Rick James record ("Wonderful", of all names!).
Very cool to read about his songwriting process as well, especially the backstory to each of the songs. Amazing!
Always cool to hear from Peter & see what he's up to these days. Of course I was a dB's fan way back in the day, also saw him with Chris in a tiny club in Nashville about 15 years ago. Fantastic show.
Cool piece. Holsapple is a talented guy and it's always great to see what he's doing now/next. Saw him first with the DB's when they opened for R.E.M. on the Document tour and he joined them for the headlining set, then at other times over the years. And I agree: I wish the Paranoid Style would play more shows!
Fabulous interview, Kevin! I know Peter was 68 when he recorded the album (hence the title), but I KNOW he has to know the original reference (hence THAT title!).....'Twas that year that another Peter, Frampton (at all of 18) was named "The Face of '68" by UK's Rave Magazine.
The Quacky Duck & His Barnyard Friends LP he found for $5 might have been mine! Had it at the time....1972 I wanna say (I sold all my albums around the century-turn on eBay), and while I had no idea at the time that those Bennett boys were Tony's, it was a decade later that Danny became his dad's manager, and broadened his career by having him record "Puttin' on the Ritz," getting him on MTV, and more!
Fun stuff....I know we mentioned it on the Meet, but it's pretty cool to learn that he, like so many of us, are veterans of the retail vinyl wars, and, like most of us, is a rabid deep-sea bin diver! And, I was pleased to see him mention "power pop" and other genres without getting testy or irritated....he can talk about the music just like we do!! We wish him well on the new record!
Nice get and great interview!
Thank you, Keith! This was a lot of fun to put together.

Thank you, Andy! And yeah, I'd love to be able to apply and/or hold myself to that $10 rule as well. Maybe someday! lol.

Right on! I'd have loved to have been at that show. I'm sure it was incredible.
