Good Morning!
Today we’re listening to “B-Side” by Khruangbin & Leon Bridges.
Texas Moon is the follow-up collaboration to 2020’s Texas Sun, and the EP sees the Houston-based funk trio and Fort worth-based crooner in fine form.
Khruangbin have turned defying categorization into a sport, but rock, psychedelia, and funk all fit.
And it’s the latter that best describes not just “B-Side” itself, but the entire EP. It would’ve been easy here for the instruments to take a backseat to Bridges’ vocals, but they hold their own, the result being a woozy funky track. The catchy chorus is icing on the cake.
More:
“Without joy, there can be no real perspective on sorrow. Without sunlight, all this rain keeps things from growing. How can you have the sun without the moon?” Where Texas Sun was buoyant, cheerful and groovy, Texas Moon is relaxed, wistful and evocative."

Love this one ✨ Absolute ear candy - sooo sooo good. Haven't heard it in a while, so thanks for sharing it! 🎶
Now that is a sweet groove! Loved listening to it. Even better, one of the "youngs" came into my office when I had it on. "I didn't know you listened to this, CJ. It's one of my favorites", he said. I think my street cred just went up a few points
