Today we’re listening to Mavis Staples covering The Talking Heads “Slippery People.”
With a career now spanning 7 decades, Staples needs no introduction. First singing in churches, she and her family rose to fame as The Staples Singers. She then went solo and continues to record/tour today.
The Staples Singers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, and Staples herself into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2017.
