Good Morning!
Today we’re listening to “Blinding Sun” by Mudhoney
Cobain…Vedder…Cornell. If you were to do any kind of taxonomy on the Seattle music scene/grunge in the early 90s, these names would make guaranteed appearances. Like any map, spokes lead back to hubs— and if we’re talking 90s Seattle, a lot of those same names lead back to one you might not be as familiar with; Mark Arm.
Who?
Mark Arm is best known as the lead singer of the band Mudhoney, a job he’s held for 30+ years. Arm was originally in a band called Green River with Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard. They of course went on to form the core of Pearl jam. After the band imploded, he and long-time partner Stever Turner connected with drummer Matt Peters and former Melvins (another Seattle-based band) bassist Matt Lukin (yes, that Lukin), and another dot on the map was added. Mudhoney.
“Blinding Sun” is off the band’s 1992 record “Piece of Cake.”
Arm’s other job is as the warehouse manager of Sub Pop records. So while you might not have any Mudhoney records in your collection yet, odds are you do have one ot two that he helped get into your hands.

More:
…Well, Mudhoney didn’t knock anybody off the charts. They were all safe. But it was a high time. A lot of that stuff was weak-ass shit. It didn’t affect the heavier bands like Metallica – The Black Album came out and was huge. It was just the wimpy, poodle-hair bands. And Guns N’ Roses were still huge. In a way, they were the step between Poison and Nirvana. They had a grittier approach, but they still had some of that Hollywood swagger, and I think it paved the way for a band like Nirvana to be listened to with open ears by a large segment of the radio population.”

Mudhoney! Nice.
New Young Gun Silver Fox dropped this AM, Kev! About half way through so far, and I'm digging it.
Sorry, meant to attach this, an interesting Louder than War article on the band from a couple of months back https://louderthanwar.com/everything-we-touch-is-gold-interview-with-mark-arm-mudhoney/
