New Single: The Sizzos | 'Goodbye Again'
The latest single from the Eugene-based band is a potent dose of synth-pop.
Good morning!
Today we’re taking a quick look at Goodbye Again, the latest single from The Sizzos.
Happy Friday! I wanted to send you into the weekend with a great new track from Eugene, Oregon-based The Sizzos. This only dropped a couple of hours ago, and we’re getting one of the first looks at the song.
The band was formed and is fronted by our friend George Zaninovich. It features a rotating group of musicians for each project. In October of last year, we reviewed their previous album, diving into some of its heavier themes. At the time, I noted that the catalyst for good music sometimes comes from bad events.
‘Goodbye Again’ is the latest from the crew and the first in an upcoming series of singles based on significant changes in Zaninovich’s life.
While the band’s previous work had leaned more toward the analog, “Goodbye Again” leans much more heavily into synths and electronica.
Chatting via email, Zaninovich shared, "At first listen, the song sounds like a typical tale of unfaithfulness or disloyalty, but it’s more about the complicated feelings around a relationship coming to its natural ending. There’s anger and curiosity, otherizing and intense self-reflection. Either way, there is sadness and pain to manage…This song came out of a big time in my life, and I wanted the sound to reflect that.’
As for the pivot in sound, Zaninovich wanted to make “something that could fill up every inch of a stadium. Something pulsing that made every listener feel…something. As a result, I started with a driving guitar line and equally as big ARP synth bass line. I asked Kabir Green to help with some of the synth layers and Joe Dagostino to add a melodic solo. Finally, I worked with Steve Wytas at Dirt Floor Recording and Production on the mixing and mastering and he really brought the bigness of the sound I was hoping for to life. As he put it, this song is like Depeche Mode and Tears For Fears got together to write a song for the Cult.”
I can’t think of a better description than that!
“Goodbye Again” is a great track and a fantastic preview of what’s in store for us in 2025.

As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the record!
I sorta hear a rockin' Tangerine Dream in a Michael Mann movie vibe. I feel like somebody should be breaking into a bank vault.
Definitely an 80's New Wave vibe, I like it.
