Release Radar: Nora Marks- "Museum of Nothing"
Surprise! The Chicago punk band is back with a second single
Good Morning!
Today we’re listening to “Museum of Nothing” by Chicago’s Nora Marks
We don’t run ads here. On Repeat is made entirely possible through the support of our paid supporters. If you enjoy what we’re doing, please consider becoming one.
It’s only been a few weeks since Chicago-based Nora Marks dropped their “Old Magick” single, but the band is already back, this time with “Museum of Nothing.”
For those who might be new to their work, the band is advertised as punk but often leans towards more indie rock. It got an edge while still being accessible.
The band has been making up for lost time recently. They’ve been playing shows consistently and constantly trying out/working through new material, which is how this latest single came to be.
“This newest song came together quickly after a spontaneous post-practice jam session,” explains vocalist and guitarist Michael Garrity. “We had the majority of it ready to go within a week and decided we wanted to maintain the momentum we’d built up after recording our last single. At the moment, we’re just experimenting with what is fun to play and expanding the limits of our comfort zone to shape or infuse our various influences into a cohesive sound that is all our own.”

Garrity and his wife just welcomed a new baby, so the band is taking a short but well-deserved break. They pick right back up next month and plan to finish the year with a refreshed live set and more touring. (Bandcamp Link)

Thanks for being here,

I have a hard time with any punk made in the last 30 years, but it's nothing personal. There is some stuff out there that really appeals to my taste (check out Amyl and the Sniffers or G.L.O.S.S. for examples).
Hell yeah. This is rad.
