Slow Pulp is a Chicago-based band via Madison, Wisconsin. I first came across them when one of my neighbors put this on their Instagram story—I couldn’t stop listening to it. It feels like a cross between Throwing Muses and My Bloody Valentine.
I’m already a sucker for good shoegaze tracks, and this checked a lot of boxes for me. It’s a good addition to any “deep work” or “flow state” playlist you might be putting together. I also dig the Windows 95 style graphics on the video.
"One thing I was talking about on the way down here about the Madison scene... we were noticing differences between the Madison scene and the Minneapolis scene specifically, but I think it might apply more broadly than that... People, when they come out to shows, in my experience, realize that they’re also performers in that situation. And give a lot to the bands. In Madison," Leeds says. "I love playing in Madison for that reason. It’s a very responsive crowd and we feed off that and off each other. I don’t experience that anywhere else.”
