Big Nada Surf fan and feel like their last three albums have all been stellar, with emotional pop melodies that definitely stick to my heart and brain. I’ll need to give this more of a listen to anoint it as a top 2 or 3 of their illustrious career, but it very well might be.
Really love Afterimage. Right in my wheelhouse. Not really taking anything to new places, but that’s fine with me.
And I’m excited to hear the new Amy Rigby, love her prior work.
The others I’m not familiar with but will definitely check them out!
I felt the same way about Afterimage- nothing revolutionary, but what they play is like catnip for me. Let me know what you think of the Amy Rigby record once you've had a chance to play it!
I also wrote them off as one-hit wonders, and then around 2005 or so, XM radio started putting "Always Love" into rotation. I remember thinking, "This is pretty good! I should listen to more of their stuff." And never did.
I listened to "Always Love" for the first time in about 15 years just now and it's pretty great. I think you may have sparked my interest in listening to them, for real this time! I'll keep you posted on this AND World Party.
I like the Mo Dotti, too - need to listen more to see if it “sticks.”
It takes a minute, but for me, once it stuck, it *stuck* (if that makes sense?).
Really digging that Mo Dotti! Had never heard of them…
Right on! I'm happy to hear it.

Nice mention of the Luke De-Sciscio record - I gave it a listen a while ago and was struck by the intimacy of the album. I need to hear it again soon.
Man, Nada Surf...

Right on! "Always Love" is one of my faves. I should probably get XM radio again...
Totally on Amy Rigby now. Thanks Kev
You bet! I'm glad you're digging it!
ooooooh it's dark in here, in the room.
❤️ed the mo dotti release! thank you!
Of course!
Sounds like I’ve got homework to do! Thanks for always highlighting such cool stuff.
You bet! I hope you find a new favorite in here!
I’m familiar with Nada Surf, of course, but all the rest are new to me. I look forward to checking them all out!
Big fan of the new Nada Surf. Writing about it for my next post, currently in its early stages.
Haven't gotten to the Amy Rigby yet, thanks for the reminder.
Digging the first couple tracks from Mo Dotti and Amy Rigby -- good calls!
