Stone and Jeff have a new band...

In the early 90s, if you were in Seattle and wanted to see a big band, you headed for the Kingdome. If you wanted to see a good band, you went to a place like RKCNDY or the Off Ramp- venues short on capacity but long on character.
And so it was on this day in 1990 that a band called Mookie Blaylock played their first show in front of ~300 people at the latter.
Two things jump out to me here; first, I’m amazed at how complete (?) these songs already sound. I saw them not too long after, but time has faded those memories I guess, and at any rate, Ten was already out.
At a point during “Release,” someone in the audience says “this is awesome!”
I wonder if they knew then what they were witnessing?
Time moves on, and all good things come to an end. Countless bands and clubs have come and gone. The Kingdome was put out of its misery in 2000, and there’s now a Marriott hotel where RKCNDY used to be.
But this band was something special; I hope they made it.
