Today we’re listening to “Tides” by Swimming Tapes
If you ever spend any time at an airport, you’ll notice there are monitors everywhere. Backdrops behind the gate podiums… monitors for arrivals/departures…and of course, the nonstop CNN or Weather Channel feeds.
Airside, it’s no different. I work for an airline in the upper Midwest. We have screens for everything. Except ours are set to time out every :15 minutes. The workaround? Find a 10-hour YouTube clip, and run in the background.
I’ve noticed once winter really kicks in, everyone picks some sort of beach theme. Maybe it’s waves, maybe it’s airplanes landing at St. Martin. Either way, it all speaks to an escapist mindset, which this song personifies for me.
