Shrewdly written, Kevin! Brilliant Venn diagram, too...they were definitely hard to peg! I was in on their '81 "Stands for Decibels" debut (mainly because I was fascinated by it being produced by a rock critic I enjoyed, Alan Betrock), and their follow-up, "Repercussion."

I deserted them long before the '84 "Like This," mainly because however "power pop" they may have been, and were touted as being, I wasn't hearing a solid, in-the-pocket power to their pop! I remember articles and interviews with Holsapple and Stamey, but it was right around '83 or so, anyway, that I was drifting from the record biz, and sliding into career #2, having nothing whatsoever to do with the biz!

Fun! Very eighties. Never heard of them, but when I saw the title, I did have another song in mind. Same (or almost the same) title, very different song:

I'd never heard this until recently. All I ever knew was their "Walk The Dinosaur."

I vaguely remember having their album. Walk The Dinosaur, Shake Your Head, Spy In The House Of Love. A fun collection. It also included their version of Papa Was A Rolling Stone.
