Good Morning!
Today we’re listening to Wilco’s “I’m Always In Love”
What can one say about Wilco that hasn’t already been said? For many, their “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” record is a favorite, holding space on countless “best of” lists. And with good reason- it’s great, but I’ve always preferred 1999’s “Summerteeth.” It goes into some dark places yet always seemed sunnier (?) to me.
And sure, “Shot In The arm” became a bit of a meme as everyone started getting vaccinated, but “I’m Always In Love” is still my favorite on an album packed with amazing tracks.

It’s not too wild a theory to suggest that the “you” Tweedy keeps singing to might actually be the music of the bands who influenced this record. “It’s for you I swoon,” he declares on “I’m Always in Love,” sounding like a man whose favorite song is whichever one is playing at the moment. Music is his shot in the arm. It’s what tells him every little thing’s gonna be alright. It’s the reason you undertake this foolish enterprise.

A lot of your songs have this breezy, summer West Coast vibe. I love it.
