I thank you - for revisiting this band and album. The reverend is my kind of guitarist, and there are plenty of catchy hooks, licks, runs, and riffs throughout this one.
I've never done a deep enough dive on ZZ Top to say where this fits in...but this post-punk/new wave kid sure liked Cheap Sunglasses when it came on the radio!
Yeah, in a lot of ways this album was exactly where they needed to be at the time; + it's one of my touchstones with my hard rock band of where we'd like to be (sans the keyboards, of course). One disagree, tho'; "Manic Mechanic" is funny as hell, and beloved by my old psych-rock band boss and his cronies from back in The Day. He even has the pitch-shifter to play it if he wants to.

Nice one! I'm not a ZZ Top fan, but this album, well, it's undeniably a great, fun listen. Thanks for reminding me.
