As a long time listener of Brinsley Schwarz, I was thrilled to read this interview. Between him and the guys that played with him and around him in pubs I developed a taste for the British version of New Wave Music. Elvis Costello, Elton Motello, Nick Lowe, Dury and the Blockheads, etc. It was enlightening to hear his take on music in general and who influenced him and who he is listening to.
This is great; I never knew he was in Ducks Deluxe, a band which I like a lot. "Pub rock" is a major subject of interest for me these days; there was something about it that seems to be missing from a lot of the culture today. I think it's the fun; modern rock is wonderful, but it's almost universally very 'serious' in presentation across all genres. Maybe it's just our world today, but I hope there's room for the "lighten up" breaks we need to keep pushing through.
Really excellent interview! I'll certainly be listening to those solos on Squeezing Out Sparks a little differently and I love that he loves Two Against Nature, which is still seen as an asterisk to Steely Dan's discography, along with Everything Must Go.
So good. I love when people actually take the time and give good answers to Q&As like this. It happens in part due to good questions. Great work.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I love it when they give good/substantive answers too.
Awesome! i’ve been eagerly awaiting this one!
Same! I'm really happy it finally came to pass.

Thank you! As you know, I share your love for Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, etc., so this was a blast to get out there for everyone.

That's a great point; more fun feels desperately needed in 2023.

I’m glad you liked it! This was really fun to put together.
