Thanks for weighing in! A few points:

Not liking a record doesn't make anyone a bad guy. Not everything will land with everyone. And hey, that's what the next post is for, right?

As for the typo, that's exactly what it was. I proofread everything before it goes out, use Grammarly, etc. but at the end of the day, it's still a real person typing on the other side of your screen. Progress, not perfection. That said, thank you (and to everyone) who points these out. I am always grateful for the heads up!

Putting the music first with little or no text would be easy (it's pretty much what I used to do), but frankly, it's not very much fun to put together, and I don't think it'd be fun to read. If engagement stats are anything to go by, most people seem to agree. In any case, if it's "just" music you're after, we do that every Monday right here. It's a lively discussion thread, and it'd be great to see you there.

Yes, love the Rilo Kiley 'Under the Blacklight' shout! I know a lot of indie heads didn't dig the disco pop turn on there, but I think it's aged fantastically. Halfway through 'Velveteen' and what a great rec. Absolute sugary summer bliss!

“Right at home on an Ivy album”. That really got my attention! For some reason I don’t know anyone who’s ever listened to Ivy. I had Apartment Life on extremely heavy rotation in ‘97, right up there with Stereolab’s Dots and Loops and Autour de Lucie’s Immobile which are both fantastic albums. Thanks for the intro to PONY, I look forward to exploring the album (of course I already had to check out French Class and the Ivy comp is apt)

I'm glad that comparison worked! You're probably way ahead of me here, but they released a record of Apartment Life demos recently as well. I haven't heard it yet, but it's on my shopping list.

Abandoned Albums also did a great interview with Dominique Durand & Andy Chase last summer. Well worth your time if you haven't had a chance yet: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-303-dominique-durand-andy-chase-of-ivy/id1600596605?i=1000577959982

P.S. Huge +1 to Dots and Loops.
