You have me at "orthogonal." What doth the meaning? I appreciate the enthusiasm with which you share your love of music, and even if I can't keep up with all the recommendations, it's the conversations that make it worthwhile.

...Pauses to get out the dictionary...

Orthogonal:

adjective

1.

of or involving right angles; at right angles.

2.

Statistics

(of variates) statistically independent.

Ha, fascinating. I guess either would apply. Happy New Year!

Thank you, Tony! I guess that was just a fancy way of saying how much I enjoy seeing all the side conversations and tangents in the comment sections.

Happy New Year, Kevin! This is a great place to be.

Also, are you a Survivor fan? Was wondering if "orthogonal" was a tip of the cap.

Happy new year! Maybe 2025 is the year we run into each ther at a show?

Survivor the TV show? I honestly haven't watched more than a clip or two since seasons 1 & 2.

Yes, it would be great to meet in person this year.

One of the Survivor contestants used "orthogonal" in the last episode and no one else knew what he was talking about. I laughed.

I'm going to start doing the collabs on starter lists and deeper cuts collections this year, so maybe we can work together on something fun?

You're a fantastic ambassador for the Substack music community, Kevin. Thanks for everything you do!

You are like the super cool camp counselor and we are all the awkward kids and pre-teens trying not to look lame.

That said, it's always a blast to collaborate with you and I hope we get to do it again in 2025!

Also, sorry about your Ducks. I think it was way too much time off in between. Also, bad luck getting OSU again. 🦆🦆

Absolutely love following what you do and have always felt welcome and understood. Beyond that, your music knowledge and writing is excellent so thank you.

I’ve mulled how to approach people, like yourself specifically, about possible collaborations but I’m too insecure that my niche might be TOO niche.

Anyway, this comment is insanely long now, I’m so sorry.

Happy new year Kevin! This is one of the first Substacks I subscribed to when I discovered the platform in 2023. Thanks for being such a community champion and for so enthusiastically supporting both established and up and coming writers (like myself). Not only do you set a high bar with your writing, but your accessibility and tireless engagement have been so integral to the growth of the Musicstack community. Wishing you all the best for 2025!!
