Beautiful story. I loved how Matthew took us on a journey through the Canadian Prairies from his secondary school to the present day. I was wondering if my computer sound was playing up, so I'm glad I then read what Matthew explained about the tone being deliberately flat π Not my cup of tea to be honest but I loved the story and I can feel the passion come through.
I wondered if anyone would have sharp enough ears to notice! When I was working on the remix, there was this super confusing moment when I tuned up my guitar and tried to play along.
I bet! I've sung in choirs with folks who have perfect pitch. I usually try my best to sit on the other side of the room! π€£ That said, I do wish I had a more reliable pitch memory. It would make sight reading music so much easier!
I hear you (if you'll pardon the pun π ). Mine is not perfect, but in all the tests I've done, I always get "very high relative pitch". I'm not formally trained in music theory but I've sung all my life π
I never heard of FoxWarren or Andy Shauf. I am familiar with Leslie Feist's Broken Social Scene, Stars from Montreal, and the great indie rock group Tragically Hip. It's true sometimes you discover something new that alters the heart & ear of a listener. btw Qobuz is not user friendly and its interface is not what I expected. I resorted to it decades ago. It didn't offer me technical issues like now. I am a MacBook user. The audio quality is fine and all but without any sound from my headphones, it is indeed frustrating.
For a long time, most of our massive indie-rock exports here in Canada were based in Montreal or Toronto. What I love about Andy Shauf and his friends in Foxwarren is that they are all prairie kids from the most unlikely little towns. You never know what will happen!
That was brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Big fan of the music too. Been playing that on my new music radio show π€ππΈ
Right on! I'm glad you liked it, Chris.
Thanks for reading, Chris. Great to hear their new record is getting some spins on your show!
Thank you for your thanks!
I try.
Have a brilliant day

Cheers! It's an asset when it comes to my own singing. It's a curse when I try to enjoy recorded material (yes, including my own π€£).
