I have both of these albums. That said, it’s not a hard call. As much as I love Hoodoo Gurus (and they are fantastic live and are still touring), Magnum Cum Louder isn’t even in my top 3 of their album output. 3 Feet High and Rising is a watershed album that deepened my love of hip hop and expanded what was possible in the genre at the time.

A lot of people share that same sentiment! Gurus are getting absolutely bodied 76-8 in early voting.

"Now let's talk about the good. We can talk about Prince Paul’s touch and how he helped sculpt this into something nothing like what we’d heard before. This and Paul’s Boutique ushered in a new era of layering samples like a collage" No, no no. While Prince Paul is different, he is not first. You look at the first four PE records with the Bomb Squad. Amerikka Most Wanted in 1990. Eric B and Rakim start in 1987. Stetsasonic. Heavy D and the Boyz. Redhead Kingpin. I would dispute that Prince Paul is first.

Fair! I intended that to read as he helped usher in the era, but I hear you.
