This track goes into my mix that includes Donald Fagin’s “New Frontier” and “Lawyers Guns and Money” by Warren Zevon and “Smuggler’s Blues” by Glen Frey. It’s both telling and a little sad that what passed for a social protest song mostly took and anti-corporate, anti-Yuppie stance. Thank Christ for punk. Devo may have saved my jaded teenage soul.
I was always torn about JB--the first time I heard his "earnest" songs I loved them. But he kept doing the same thing over and over until I thought, "ENOUGH already!" So "silly" was a pleasant surprise!
By me? Monday.
I have a fond memory of this artist that I will delve into in Jan 2023!
Right on! I'm looking forward to it. Any hints?
A famous TV show about growing up in America and this song was used in one of the episodes. If you got it, then hush.... 😗
Nope, I'm stumped! I'll have to wait and read like everyone else. :)
Two words, Phoebe Cates... 'nuff said. One of the best movies of the 80s for sure.
100%. I'd be lying if I said "Moving In Stereo" wasn't playing in my head while writing this.
