Dude... such a WILDLY underrated and underappreciated band. I mean 3/4 of them came from Frank Zappa's band and everyone should take note of ANY musician who did time with Zappa. And, arguably, many of those folks I may suspect identify with the phrase "did time." By most accounts, he wasn't the easiest dude, but MAN, an amazing group of musicians passed through his band. Love Spring Session M. Cheers!
I'm always surprised at the band's "roots," even though I know the story. To your point, any one that "did time" with Zappa had better have known their stuff.
My babysitter got me this record for my birthday. I wore it out! I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever heard. I read every inch of that album cover as I listened to it. I still love it to this day.
I was lucky to be able to see them live on that tour. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It was this album that opened my mind as to what was possible for a drummer in a rock band. Terry Bozzio supplanted Neil Peart as my favorite drummer that year. “U.S. Drag” is the song that I turn to when I want my mind blown apart.
Also- thrilled to hear that Cuccurullo is getting inducted with Duran Duran. I am not a big New Age music fan but Patrick O’Hearn’s solo albums are excellent and so different from his work with MP and Zappa.
Love the vibe of the band, but the little yelps the lead vocalist threw me off. The band member on the far left (in the pearl white jacket) looks like Charlie Sheen!
Just got around to listening to this Kevin, I'd never heard of Missing Persons but I like it. As you say you can definitely hear some onward influences (from a song recorded back in '82) and, if nothing else, going by their Artist picture on Spotify they definitely had an impact on Duran Duran's choice of hairstyles! Tim
Thanks! It was a great trip. Most of that training is now done in whatever city you will be working in, and I always feel a little sad that they don't get to go somewhere like I did.

Just yesterday found a Polaroid of my childhood bedroom with a poster of Dale Bozzio!
I love it! What other posters were there?
Only one I can see...😁

Your babysitter was infinitely more cool than mine was. What a great gift!
My radar missed this one. And is that Lady Gaga on the cover???????? Jk, jk.
Lol. Yes. :)

Would love to hear more about that show!

I haven't heard too much of his work; I'll have to cue some up. It's a grey day up here, and perfect for that sort of sound.

Whoa. You're right! Hadn't even thought of that 'til you said something.

Nice song, but I really like the story you tell with it.
