I prefer my Modest Mouse to be everything through The Moon and Antartica, but this was a banger of a single. "Fire It Up" was dumb fun too, but I think I liked the b-sides album a bit more (No One's First, And You're Next). Saw them a looooong time ago and it's still one of the worst shows I've ever been to, but damn those early records are so, so good - RIP Jeremiah Green.
On a Marr note, I had no idea Johnny has a kid in the biz, but I had to listen to Nile Marr's newest album for the upcoming Album of the Month pod taping. Have to say, the first four songs are fantastic, but the album as a whole blends into the background after that. "You Pull Me In" is my fav on here with this phat little synth line driving it:
I had no idea his kid was performing either! I'll have to give the full record a spin, but I really liked this one. On a sidenote, I'm a little surprised that after a month it had less than 50 views? maybe I shouldn't be, but still...
I'm still kinda confused with how YouTube music publishing works sometimes. Like that seems to be an autogenerated thing and I've noticed when comments are off, they also have less views. His Spotify numbers are a bit better (barf, can't believe I just said that) but definitely a UK following from what I've gathered. If it was just those first four songs plus "Skin," I'd consider it for my year-end EP list.
Oops, my fat thumbs hit the blue arrow too soon and I can’t edit. Anyway, anytime I hear their sound I feel at home, and yet I don’t seek their music out. It just happens to me. I associate them so strongly as a hometown band that sometimes I wonder if it would be weird to hear them over the radio in another city. 😂
I don't know what that is.
Thanks for encouraging discussion and not coming off like a total 🤖

For being a Seattle Girl I don’t listen to nearly enough Modest Mouse.
