Happy Monday, and a warm welcome to those you who joined over the weekend! Below is a bit of what I’ve had in heavy rotation over the past week. More importantly, I’d like to hear from you too.
What’ve you been listening to? Any new releases you’re excited about? What (or who) should we all be checking out?
It was another 'Renaissance' weekend here... it's been almost impossible to listen to anything else! Yesterday I gave it a first listen on STRR's Quando Tudo Era Novo and enjoyed what I heard so far! Nice chill electronic music. https://songwhip.com/strr/quando-tudo-era-novo
I’m working on an intro playlist…want to get my 15-year-old nephew aware of They Might Be Giants. So that’s what I’ve been listening to and editing/expanding/refining…
Went on holiday for the last two weeks to the Maritime provinces (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island). Saw Tim Baker and Villages on the last weekend in Lunenberg, NS. I've had their songs in my head ever since.
Flew, yes. To Newfoundland, then to Halifax, Nova Scotia, before heading home from there.
Probably won't see a write-up about it in Ponytail Press. Not exactly within scope for the newsletter. But a few highlights might end up in Ponytail Picks if I can find a thru-line to the week's theme! Keep your eyes peeled...

Listening to this as I type. About halfway through the record, but I like it!
Haven't been here in a while. Summer is my busy season. Anyway, here is a playlist based on my Spotify's "on repeat"

I'm glad you're back! Great list (and name. lol). "Stranded" is a new fave.
yeah, love that song too!
This is one of my favourite Working Men's Club tunes 😁 It's called Teeth.
You can tell they went to college in Manchester.
They have that dark, Northern England sound.

Such a great sound! You've likely seen this, but in May of last year, they did a set for (Seattle radio station) KEXP.

Yeah I have seen that. It's great 😁

Raisin' him right.
Weren’t you guy that hit me in the eye?
Some Norah Jones and cleaning the apartment. 😀
Can't go wrong there! Any particular faves?
"Uh oh". It's track 5 on her 2019 album "Begin Again". The last minute of that song is sublime.

Oh wow! I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume you flew...
Will there pics and/or a write up anytime soon?

Goth Babe!!! And Oasis.
Right on!
I’m going through a Björk phase at the moment.
As one should from time to time!
I'm working on some new posters for theCode and I'm listening a lot of Max Cooper
Nice! I've spent quite a bit of time listening to BOKKA after you put them on your recent playlist.
That's awesome. Thank's for letting me know. And which song resonated with you the most?
Definitely “K & B.” I’ve been listening to the Cocteau Twin’s Garlands record, and this fits right in with it.
ooh yass, it sounds like a great combo. Haven't been listening to Cocteau Twin’s for ages. Thanks for the reminder
