I love that song! We play that and Otis’ White Christmas (“Little bitty children, they try to listen”) every year.

It's hard to beat Otis' version, although I've listened to Bruce's many more times because of the classic A Very Special Christmas compilation.

Here's my favorite Christmas song, a gorgeous take on O Holy Night by Trombone Shorty and an all-star band of New Orleans musicians that was featured in Aaron Sorkin's awful Studio 60 series.

Merry Christmas to everyone who is celebrating!

Otis Redding was just unreal. Everything he touched was as close to perfection as you could be.

Our traditional Christmas song is not a song. It is "The Perfectly Frank, True Story of Christmas, by Dr. Edward Daniel Taylor.

Otis said when Aretha Franklin covered "Respect", it became her song instead of his. And he largely did the same thing with this one regarding Charles Brown.

Love this, but I’m partial to Charles Brown’s version for obvious reasons. Here’s the piece I wrote on Charles last year: https://open.substack.com/pub/glenncook/p/the-legacy-of-charles-brown?r=727x&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

Now that’s what I call a cute picture! A Christmas classic performed by Otis Redding, on top of that? What a treat! Happy holidays 🤗
