Ha! My go-to “buy anything they release” was 4AD, too!
I could just count on them for the artfulness of the liner notes coupled with any/all of the music.
I kinda miss those days of browsing the new release section at Dr.Disc, spotting a new album (the cover art always drew my attention) by an ‘unknown to me as of yet’ artist, taking a chance on adopting it and upon listening, fall in love with the new sounds and flavours.
This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins, Red House Painters, Pixies...didn’t matter- I loved it all!
Kevin, I'm listening right now. Robbins has that bass-heavy sound that Jawbox had, too - the way the music comes together is reminiscent of those records I listened to 30 years ago (I think "Motorist" is my favorite Jawbox song, FWIW).

So many good bands for such a (relatively) small label!

Nice! I think mine might be "Breathe."
1994, right? I think the Motorist version I like predates the "Special Sweetheart" album by a couple of years, although they did remake it:

BTW, this sounded amazing as a seven inch record. Mastery of that explosive guitar entry andb bass-heavy sound.
Annnnd I just got sucked into a sinkhole of new-to-me music. Really liking Basilik so far, lots more to explore. Thank you!!!
I'm happy to hear it!
I'm still trying to figure out how I missed Jawbox. Let's just go with that was the period of my life that I tried to act like an adult.
Now I am wondering who else I missed. I'm seeing a rabbit hole in my near future.
Those are the best kinds of rabbit holes, though!
Okay, this was my impetus to finally give it a listen. Really enjoyed it! It's a good month for artists with "J" as their first initial.
Right?!
Adding to my queue!
Let me know what you think once you've had a chance to play it!
