Release Radar: The Tisburys "The Anniversaries"
The Philly band is back with a fantastic new single.
Good Morning!
Today we’re listening to ‘The Anniversaries” by Philly-based The Tisburys.
I was out of town this weekend, in one of those places just far enough away to escape the white noise of everyday life but close enough that you can still do things like watch Monday Night Football. Fall is a time for slowing down a little, a time of reflection. The house we stayed at seemed purpose-built for doing just that.
“The Anniversaries” is the first single off the upcoming record from Philly-based The Tisburys, due out early next year. It covers many of those same themes: reflection, the passing of time, and how time shapes memories as the years go by.
Time, of course, is screaming by regardless of where we happen to be, and I was more than a little surprised to see that this single was the first new material from the band since 2022. 1
The group has been an On Repeat Records favorite for a while. After their release of Exile on Main Street, they were one of my first interviews for this project.
In their words, that record channeled 90s radio rock such as Gin Blossoms and The Replacements… “The Anniversaries” pushes musically into the aughts with the rustic bombast of millennial indie, such as Frightened Rabbit and Rilo Kiley.
Bombast is a perfect descriptor; this isn’t an elegy or navel-gazing. It's not a recounting of regrets or missed opportunities. It’s bright, it's anthemic. It’s revelatory. Time might be screaming by, but we can at least enjoy the ride.

They’ve put out a couple of EPs of covers. Both are well worth your time!
Just had a listen to this on your weekly playlist and I love it!
Not familiar with these guys but I love the energy and production. That's some powerful drumming!
