I love that you have the cassette version of the album. Was that all there was at the time? Are you now collecting cassettes again? I still own a Denon dual-cassette deck. It's hooked into my computer via a port on my USB turntable! I'm SLOWLY digitizing my mixtapes from the 80s and 90s.
I look forward to checking out Ben's -- I mean Tristan's -- music!
Oh man! I often wonder what became of my mixtapes from the 80s and 90s. I was the music man of my friend group growing up and could always be counted on to show up with my cassette briefcase filled with mixtapes of new and exciting music. What I’d give to go back and have those mixtapes again. Or even to get the track listings so I could rebuild them.
Same here! I gave sooo many away. Too many really. The last batch left when I was packing up to move out here. There was a teenager in our complex that was a little lost. I knew he liked punk, so I gave him handful of tapes with groups like 7Seconds on them. Might've been the only time I saw him smile. I wonder if he's still got 'em?
I believe it's only available on casette or digitally. Not sure I'll start collecting tapes again, but it's nice to have a player over here again, even if only for a little while.
Once in a while I've compared an artist to someone else in a review and they contact me to say, "Never heard of that before - but I love it!" One way of spreading the word on great music, LOL. But comparisons can also be a pitfall when a reader, such as myself, doesn't like the artist being used as the comparison. Even so, I did listen to a Tristan Dolce song when Rosy Overdrive shared it earlier and it left very little impression. Still in my playlist, however, so I'll give it another try.
I've been listening to this a little more lately and I find his music quite reminiscent of John K. Samson. Not sure whether you've ever heard of him, but he made my AOTY list in 2016 with Winter Wheat. This was my favorite track from the album: https://open.spotify.com/track/5l1AMUJEA43GYqxpfTyhoT?si=5cbee1ebc71d4308
Did he get pissed at the comparison?
I'm sure if he actually did, but apparently Springsteen comparisons used to miff Brian Fallon. If true, I guess I get it, but c'mon dude!
Not at all! He was totally cool about it and took it in stride.
Good!

I think this one is a record that takes time to settle in. I'd be curious to hear what you think once you play it again.
I’m liking what I’ve heard so far so it’s going into my 2024 Music playlist for further evaluation!
Right on!
Don't hate I'm in the jacuzzi and it's the perfect jams
How's the ❄️
Currently a balmy 10 degrees, no wind, and sunny, which is a (relative) heat wave compared to what we saw earlier this week.
This is a great album! He’s a talented songwriter.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I’m not sure I have. Thank you for the link!
On "Digging Too Deep" there's a final separate song interrupted by frequency channel distortions. What is it? What's the story here?
Good question! I’ll reach out to the artist and see what they have to say.
Thank you! It's a wonderful song. And the "other one" seems to be as well.
