The flood of great records continues! Today we're taking a quick look at the latest from Franz Ferdinand, A Flock of Seagulls, 20/20, Ethel Cain, and more!
The Ethel Cain is 100% not an easy listen. I was warned before I cued it up that I was in for what might be a disturbing ride, and that's exactly what we get here.
As I mentioned on Monday, I am loving the FF album. I’ve really not ever listened to a lot of their music but this instantly grabbed me. It remains to be seen whether it will sustain my interest, but it looks good so far.
I have a lot of respect for what Ethel Cain is doing but it’s honestly not why I listen to music so I think I will be leaving it alone.
Haven’t listened to Flock of Seagulls yet - intrigued to do so.
As with everything, I may well come back to it later and feel differently. I really didn’t like the most recent Vampire Weekend record on first listen. Six months later it’s a different story.
You’re not alone, I don’t listen to Bon Iver either. Putting on Franz Ferdinand for my morning tasks. Thanks!
A Flock of Seagulls? K-Al, you buried the lede, which is: Did they change their hairstyles?
I'm sad to report that Mike Score's hair is now boringly normal (it's gone, actually).
+1 for not listening to Bon Iver.
I was excited for the Ethel Cain but I don’t care for the new album. It’s just not an easy listen.
I dug what I heard of the new Flock of Seagulls, which I had no clue was even coming, so have saved that one for further listening.

I need to check out more of that Flock of Seagulls album. First song I heard didn't wow me.
Let me know if it winds up growing on you or not!
It is! I've now listened to the whole album and like several tracks! It's a solid and sometimes unexpected work. Thanks for mentioning it!
Take Me Out has just joined the 1B streams on Spotify, your workmate must be responsible for a fair few of those!
Lol. I'm sure he was.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts! So far, feedback seems pretty split between "pleasantly surprised" and "meh."
It’s a bit repetitious. The songs are pleasant but they feel more background to me than anything else. It didn’t make me stop and take notice.
Fair enough! Thanks for taking the time to give it a spin.

Got in my first listen of the new 20/20 album this morning. Sounded pretty darn good!
Right? I'm glad you liked it!
