I’m so thankful for this Stack. Let me tell you why. From 5 to 7 am I read non-biased news and trusted commentary thanks to 1414 and Substack writers like Robert Reich and Dan Rather. The news regarding the state and future of this country is an imperative subject for me to be involved in understanding. By the time I finish, as I did moments ago, my heart is beating hard and my hands are tight. My brain is in high gear.
I need Music. And this is the perfect forum for me to regain my footing and feel good about my world again.
There are great people out there writing great stories about love, ecology, understanding, and yes, even politics. Even politics is more palatable with a good beat.
My heart beats lighter, and my legs wave back and forth in opposition to my head. I have some laughs, and find some relatable stories. I hear some food for thought and maybe a good re-make. That’s why I enjoy this Stack. I feel happy.
But for me I know it’s an important balance in my world that for all of the happiness that I need to temper cut with a quest for truth and search for answers during such a volatile time in the world and in our country. And I remind people always: VOTE! (And you can dance to that)
Wow! Canadian content. Royal Ottawa and Baker's Dozen are on my radar.
Footnote: Nova Scotia has had a large Black population for centuries, so it's no surprise to me that Black music flourishes there.
