Great piece as always! I love what you say about appreciating the little things in life. To answer your question on why you may be reluctant to watch the movie, I think we develop a complicated relationship with our hometown when we move somewhere else. You can’t have the same detachment as everyone else because you feel you have to kind of “represent” your hometown. And part of you worries will I remember all the details I’m supposed to remember? Have I forgotten my roots a little bit? It’s complicated shit. It happens to me from time to time. You’re not alone!

Warrington is way down the list of towns you'd ever expect somebody to pen a paean to Kevin, but (maybe because of that) I like it a lot!

I don't think anyone'll write one to Beaverton, either. It's a suburb only a native could love!

I lived briefly in Beaverton (and all around Portland) in the '80s. "Air" isn't about Beaverton except it's about white guys. WHITE WHITE guys.

Oh, I'm 110% sure I'm overthinking it. Can't help defending my hometown is all. If you're okay with sharing, what part of Beaverton were you in?

Damned if I remember. Some apartment complex that looked like all the others. I do remember hanging out downtown B-town once. It had railroad tracks running through it. This was before MAX went there. I worked in Tigard and it seemed like a much easier trip than from Northeast Portland. That's all I remember. Only there for about six months, then I moved to Seattle to be with my girlfriend at the time.
