I downloaded Michael Gurley’s Ultrasound today. I have a signed copy. He asked me today if I listened to it and I said no. He signed it! But love that I waited and downloaded from his website michaelgurletmusic.com
I never got into these guys. A song here or there, but after reading about the angry lyrics, The Style Council has moved up on my listen-to list. Thanks, Kevin!

Loved this album when it came out. As a huge Jam fan, I naturally wanted to hear Weller’s new work and boy was I surprised with Cafe Bleu (the first one out that I could find)! I quickly warmed up to the new Jazz/R&B groove on that album. “Internationalists” came out shortly later and I was completely blown away by the juxtaposition of the biting lyrics and smooth music! The Lodgers, my favorite track, personifies that mood completely!
Ah yes, loved the Style Council back in the day. I saw them in Nottingham (UK) when I was at college there, must have been 1983 or so.
You have to admire the way he did such a hand brake turn after The Jam - albeit the latter day Jam was becoming diverse.
