I watched Pistol recently with my kid (who loved it). Last night, we watched what now feels like a natural epilogue to that story: 24 Hour Party People. Amazing film with a nice little Mark E Smith cameo.

The music is obviously superb but the track that's stuck in my head this morning is the song from the end credits, New Order's Here To Stay.

It’s such a great song! And kudos to your kid for having good taste!

St. Etienne, vintage, bluesy Fleetwood Mac, and Suzanne Vega's 99.9 F. Degrees, especially "In Liverpool."

Track 8 in your playlist was my fav. As for me, I’m listening to some top secret Turkish bands for an upcoming post 😄

It's been a slower week. In the middle of We Are the City's album Violent, their best record in my humble opinion.

Always nice to see Hair & Skin pop up on a playlist, or even get mentioned.

The past few days have been old Julian Lennon from the 80s, Lizzy McApline, and a ton of music podcasts like Bothering the Band and The Art of Longevity.

For a couple of days now I'm into Dora Jar and her folk-rock/bedroom pop vibes https://open.spotify.com/artist/4V30Q8ACPdJCcAmAYibfrH?si=vBH-3G36Tt2UyP8NkiO11A

P.S. #3 and #9 from your playlist resonated with me the most 🎶

I’ve been listening to High Vis a lot lately! I found “Westerlies” on the fantastic “Check This Out!” Substack .

“Cherry Oh Baby” by UB40. The original was sung by reggae artist Eric Donaldson but UB40 was the one I grew up in. It’s a great track with a bit more sped up rhythm. And that song always leads me to the Promises and Lies album. Memories!

I know UB40, but I'm not sure I've heard either version. I'm off to check it out!
