this has been the first year that my wrapped actually felt quite representative of my listening habits--usually i feel like it's skewed towards random things i played for a week straight. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/03tk74ezwit4WpRchz9DZf?si=51017c280abe43e0

Mine feels like that too- especially compared to 2020's. Nice to see someone else with YLT in their top 5!

What a great mix of new and old on your playlist! I'm still not sure I totally believe the numbers. Mine has the Grateful Dead as my third most played band, and yes I do listen to a lot of Dead, but less so this year. In fact, I'm 100% sure I listened to more Jerry Garcia Band in 2022, but that didn't even make the Top 10... oh, also the classic "song that autoplays when you plug into the car" as your number one song is always a heavy sigh, ha!

There are 1 or 2 on mine that I genuinely don't recall ever listening to, but they might've been on while at work and I didn't notice. I'm not sure.

And yeah, the autoplay song is right up there with "record you put on before falling asleep" that somehow leaps into your Top 10. Heavy sigh indeed. lol.

I'm not very surprised by my wrapped results, but there were some unforeseen algorithm's picks. Jungle, Labrinth and The Black Keys are for sure my top arists, but the rest is debatable. I like the idea , love these vibrant colors and I'm impressed by how SW evolves year-to-year. Fun thing, but it doesn't really express a whole picture of a listener's taste - what you listen to on the radio, when you're offline and what you pick from your physical music collection etc. Some people treat it too seriously, I think.

Also I'm excited to give a listen to your yearly mix 🤩🎶

Jungle was one I found through you & Midweek Crisis, and listened to a LOT. I'm surprised they're not on the list, tbh.

whoa! that's awesome to hear. Thanks for telling me this. It always makes me really happy when sth from my recommendations resonates with somebody 💗

I'll preface my list by saying how much I agree with your "For those who know me offscreen, you can probably autofill a dozen or so without double-clicking." statement. My top 5 are artists people have seen me go on about for years at this point lol

1. BONES

2. Wiz Khalifa

3. Pusha T

4. Boldy James

5. Kendrick Lamar

I expect most of your readers may only know two of these names but they're all rappers and they all do different types of rap - among other genres.

Nice list; you've listened to a lot of bands that are dear to me as well as some unfamiliar stuff I will need to check out. I love the year-end-list season, such a fun way to discover new music.

My Wrapped top 10 seemed pretty accurate this year.

Year-end list season is my favorite time of year. :)

Lots of new (to me) stuff on your list- I'm playing it as I type this. I've already found a couple of songs I really like.

That's awesome, I'm psyched that you have found some tracks you like. I've been working through your list. I must say one can never have too much YLT, REM or Spoon on a plylist. I am enjoying it. I have found some new bands to explore, was delighted to find Unrest (!), and had a chuckle upon hearing Rush Hour. My goodness, I'd forgotten about that one!

After several years of dormancy, I went back to the old stalwart Last.fm at the end of 2021 when both my SW and Apple Music Replay left me scratching my head. I have been trying to scrobble as much of my streaming music (mostly Spotify and Apple) to Last.fm to merge with plays from my local library. After a full year in, I'll be curious to see what this looks like when it updates for 2022:

My top 4 most-listened to albums for the year were also my favorite ones, so that was reassuring to see.

We have a few in common on that list! "Wild Loneliness" will be on my year-end list for sure. I haven't heard the Bruce Horsnby record listed, so I'm going to try and check that out today while I'm at work.

1. Nandi Bushell & Roman Morello

(Just heard both of them for the first time today. BLOWN. AWAY.🤯)

2. The Call

(Whatever happened to them? I won tickets for my 22nd birthday at The Boathouse...don’t ask when😂...one of the best shows ever!)

3. ELO

(Fire On High...definitely one of my choice picks while riding my motorcycle.)

4. King Harvest - Dancing in the Moonlight

(LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...makes me think of “cruising the strip” in my hometown, Virginia Beach, back in high school.)

5. Queensryche - Jet City Woman

(Always play this really loud...because I can 😁)

I LOVE The Call, especially "Let the Day Begin." I'll bet they brought the house down that night.

Probably one of the best shows ever. Can’t find places like the Boathouse anymore either.

This was my top 100 songs that I listened to in all of 2022. Genre wise it’s a huge mix of songs from Pop (slighter older ones) and a lot of Korean songs (from different shows that I watched) to songs that are fusion of Carnatic Classical and other stuff. Hope you enjoy!! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1F0sijgNaJdgit?si=KufzfpJcQk6Wm-7SbMVmKw <P.S. Can’t wait to dig into your list! Thanks so kuch for sharing!! :D>
